When It Changed is a short science fiction story written by Joanna Russ. It was first published as part of the anthology Again, Dangerous Visions in 1972. It won the 1972 Nebula Award for Best Short Story. It centers on a colony of humans on a planet called Whileaway where a disease killed off all colony's men 30 generations ago. A small team of men come to Whileaway and discover that the colony is made up of only woman, and explain to the colonists that they intend to change that, regardless of what the colonists want.
